Serving Opportunities for Every Spiritual Gift

Hey friends! As students with full plates, I know y’all are busy. But I wanted to highlight some ways we can make service a priority while also using our unique talents and passions for God’s glory.

First, what gifts might God have already placed inside you? Take a quick inventory:

  • Do you love creating beautiful spaces? You may have the gift of craftsmanship.
  • Are you outgoing and feel energized being with people? Could be evangelism or hospitality.
  • Do you tend to solve problems or think strategically? Sounds like leadership.
  • Do you find joy in relieving someone’s stress through listening? You may excel at mercy.

When we take time to assess our wiring, we gain clarity on how to channel abilities toward serving. I truly believe God has a special role for each of us to play in bettering our campus and community.

As we dive into a new semester, here are just a few ways to make service part of your weekly rhythm while also using your gifts:

Ways to Get Involved

Teacher – Lead one of our student-led small groups if you’re well-versed in an area of theology and excited to disciple others.

Handy Helper – Use carpentry, painting, yardwork or organizational skills to bless widows/single moms near campus needing household assistance.

Creative Genius – Partner in conceptualizing marketing plans/content for campus outreach events or capture photos/video at our weekly gatherings.

** Prayer Warrior** – Intercede regularly with peers struggling with illness, family crisis, depression, or difficult seasons of doubt.

**Party Planner **– Organize locations and food, create invite lists, or decorate spaces for seasonal parties aimed at welcoming newcomers.

Tech Whiz – Help manage our ministry website/databases, update online calendars, produce digital content, or run sound system and presentation slides at weekly gatherings.

MusicianJoin the worship team with vocal, instrumental, or audio/visual tech talents to facilitate impactful times of musical praise.

Compassionate Listener – Visit students in the hospital, serve food to the homeless monthly, or support campus ministries comforting victims of abuse.

The possibilities are endless friends! And the smallest acts of service add up in big ways. As we figure out how to steward our gifts well this semester, I encourage you to pray over what God might be inviting you into specifically. Then step out in faith to make serving part of your lifestyle.

The blessings and growth in store are truly immeasurable when we say “yes” to joining Jesus on His mission. I can’t wait to see how God uses each of you mightily! Let me know how I can help connect you to opportunities matching your gifts and schedule via email or by stopping by the BCM building.
